Blackjack Game Play, Card Values And Principles
Blackjack is a very simple game to understand and play. Unlike poker there is a very different set of strategies which apply to blackjack but they do not require bluff or understanding complex hands and card combinations.

The origin of blackjack
Blackjack was invented in Europe over a century ago and was originally simply called twenty one, so named after the essential object of the game which is to achieve a total of twenty one using various combinations of cards.
The actual name of blackjack came from an American casino who came up with the idea that if a player had a jack of clubs or spades combined with an ace of clubs or spades, then not only would the player have a score of twenty one but also all black card featuring a black jack.
Blackjack uses a standard deck of playing cards and the cards are divided up into normal face value cards which are two through to nine, aces which can count as one or eleven and kings, queens and jacks which all count as ten.
The actual game play is really simple, a dealer deals two cards to each player as well as two to himself, one facing up and one facing down. In the following round the dealer will deal with each individual player in turn, if your cards are of a low combined value you can instruct the dealer to deal another card, this is known as a ’hit’. If you are happy with your combined total you can instruct the dealer not to deal any more cards, this is known as a ‘stand’.
